A Web-based EPASS
EPASS Reports represents our first step towards a fully web-based, cloud-enabled EPASS. EPASS Reports allows you to configure, view, run and print all of the reports you are familiar with entirely from a browser or mobile device. EPASS Reports also has a large list of new features, such as bookmarking, scheduling and report bursting. More information on EPASS Reports and its features can be viewed here.
Implementation Steps
To help us provide you with a smooth implementation of EPASS Reports and make sure that you enjoy all of its benefits, we have outlined three preparation tasks for you to follow before we deploy EPASS Reports to your business.
Step 1 - Prepare a Dedicated Web Server
EPASS Reports is a web application that requires a web server. We recommend that you use a dedicated server for EPASS Reports. Click here to see the minimum requirements for the server.
If you would like to install EPASS Reports on an existing server, please contact us with the specifications of the server. We'll work with you to determine if the existing server is sufficient for EPASS Reports. If you already have a dedicated web server or are using EPASS xAPI, then it is likely you already have the necessary infrastructure.
Also verify that you have at least 100GB of storage on your Database server. This is our recommend minimum, but storage is dependent on your reporting needs. Since all report data is saved in the database, you may need more storage than listed here or upgrade to additional storage in the future.
Note: EPASS Reports will use one database license if it is installed on a separate web server and you have it running for 2 EPASS databases (such as LIVE and PLAY). If you use the same server or you have 3 or more databases, it will use two licenses. Since EPASS Reports is a read-only feature, there is no advantage to setting it up for your PLAY database. We recommend using it for production databases only to keep your database license usage low.
Why do we need a dedicated web server?
Step 2 – Set Up a VPN for Outside Access
Since EPASS Reports is a web-based application, it is accessible by any computer with an Internet browser and a connection to the EPASS Reports server. To prevent exposing sensitive data to malicious Internet users, we recommend that you set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) with access to the EPASS Reports server. This allows secure access to EPASS Reports from outside your local network.
Step 3 – Contact Us
Once your web server is ready, let EPASS Support know so that we can arrange a technician to perform the installation.
