What are the system requirements for a terminal or remote desktop server for EPASS users?

Many customers use terminal / remote desktop servers which their users login to in order to use EPASS. The system requirements for those servers is dependent upon a few factors:

  1. Are the users running other apps or just EPASS?
  2. Are the users logging into a remote desktop environment or running EPASS as a remote app?
  3. Is the user a heavy or light user of EPASS?

Due to these variables, it is difficult to provide firm system requirements as some configurations will work fine for one customer but not another. We recommend that you thoroughly test the performance of your terminal or remote server before going live to ensure that it will perform to your expectations.

Some guidelines for when you are planning your server configuration:

  • Most EPASS customers who use terminal or remote servers limit usage to approximately 20-30 users per server.
  • The server should have 1 CPU core per user. If you have light users, you should be able to combine them and have them share a core. You should also have 2-4 budgeted to run the operating system.
  • Minimum of 32GB of RAM per server.
